We are committed to avoiding waste through management systems that optimize the use of resources and encourage the recovery of unsold or surplus food.
Objectives of the project
Goal 1: Eradicate poverty
End all forms of poverty in the world
We adhere to an ambitious goal: to eliminate extreme poverty for all people by 2030. This can be done by implementing adequate national social protection systems and achieving substantial coverage of poor and vulnerable people.
Goal 2: End hunger
End hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
We adhere to the 2030 Agenda goal of ensuring that all vulnerable people have access to safe, nutritious and sufficient food all year round.
Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production
Ensure sustainable production and consumption models.
We adhere to the 2030 Agenda goal of halving per capita global food waste at retail and consumer levels by 2030. We are working to reduce food losses along production and supply chains, including post-harvest losses, and to substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.
In a world where millions of people suffer from hunger, food waste is a major social injustice. In addition to being an economic loss, food waste has serious environmental consequences. Every year, tonnes of perfectly edible food end up being thrown away. This practice contributes to the increase in greenhouse gas emissions and the depletion of natural resources.
1. Social Injustice
According to the World Food Programme, about 830 million people worldwide suffer from hunger or malnutrition. At the same time, the FAO estimates that every year one-third of the food produced globally for human consumption is lost or wasted.
2. Economic loss
The FAO reports that global food waste amounts to about 1.3 billion tonnes per year. This waste has an estimated economic value of about 940 billion dollars.
3. Environmental damage
According to the UNEP report, food waste is responsible for about 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. When food is thrown away and left to decompose in landfills, it produces methane, a very powerful greenhouse gas.
4. Tonnes of food wasted
The EU estimates that 88 million tonnes of food are thrown away in Europe every year, about 20% of all food produced. In Italy, 80% of waste is generated by consumers, 20% by the production and transport process
We have joined the Regusto platform, the Italian circular sustainability ecosystem based on an innovative sharing for charity model. Through blockchain technology, this platform ensures transparency and traceability in the management of money and goods flows. This allows us to donate surplus food in a safe and verifiable way.
Concrete solutions to prevent and reduce food waste
At a time when purchasing power is declining and an increasing number of families are struggling, responding in a concrete way to the needs of the most vulnerable is a priority for us. This is why we have decided to donate surplus food stocks to those in need.
Through our partnership with Regusto, we want to promote the circular economy and sustainability, raising awareness in the community about the importance of responsible consumption. Thanks to blockchain technology, the management of food surpluses is guaranteed to take place in a traceable, accountable and transparent way.
As the Parmacotto Group, we are committed to tackling every day the serious issue of food waste through small concrete actions that make a difference. Our commitment also includes raising people's awareness and actively involving our community in order to inspire a culture of conscious consumption.
In this way, we not only help to reduce food waste but also strengthen our commitment to corporate social responsibility, demonstrating that even private companies can play a crucial role in building a sustainable future.
